- 1 Denn jeder aus Menschen genommene Hohepriester wird für Menschen eingesetzt, zum Dienst vor Gott, um sowohl Gaben darzubringen, als auch Opfer für Sünden.
- 2 Ein solcher kann Nachsicht üben mit den Unwissenden und Irrenden, da er auch selbst mit Schwachheit behaftet ist;
- 3 und ihretwegen muß er, wie für das Volk, so auch für sich selbst, opfern für die Sünden.
- 4 Und keiner nimmt sich selbst die Würde, sondern er wird von Gott berufen, gleichwie Aaron.
- 5 So hat auch Christus sich nicht selbst die hohepriesterliche Würde beigelegt, sondern der, welcher zu ihm sprach: »Du bist mein Sohn; heute habe ich dich gezeugt.«
- 6 Wie er auch an anderer Stelle spricht: »Du bist ein Priester in Ewigkeit nach der Ordnung Melchisedeks.«
- 7 Und er hat in den Tagen seines Fleisches Bitten und Flehen mit starkem Geschrei und Tränen dem dargebracht, der ihn vom Tode retten konnte, und ist auch erhört und befreit worden von dem Zagen.
- 8 Und wiewohl er Sohn war, hat er doch an dem, was er litt, den Gehorsam gelernt;
- 9 und so zur Vollendung gelangt, ist er allen, die ihm gehorchen, der Urheber ewigen Heils geworden,
- 10 von Gott zubenannt: Hoherpriester »nach der Ordnung Melchisedeks«.
- 11 Davon haben wir nun viel zu sagen, und solches, was schwer zu erklären ist, weil ihr träge geworden seid zum Hören;
- 12 und obschon ihr der Zeit nach Lehrer sein solltet, habt ihr wieder nötig, daß man euch gewisse Anfangsgründe der Aussprüche Gottes lehre, und seid der Milch bedürftig geworden und nicht fester Speise.
- 13 Denn wer noch Milch genießt, der ist unerfahren im Worte der Gerechtigkeit; denn er ist unmündig.
- 14 Die feste Speise aber ist für die Gereiften, deren Sinne durch Übung geschult sind zur Unterscheidung des Guten und des Bösen.

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
